I was editing a newborn session the other day, and I couldn't help but get think of my own little ones. The tiny fingers, the little lashes, the way a newborn curls up so perfectly in their parents' arms—it transported me right back to when my own children were that small. I was taken aback by how fast time has passed, they're growing up faster than I can keep up.
It’s such a cliché to say, “Enjoy every moment; it goes by so fast.” But the thing is, it’s true. One minute, you’re rocking them to sleep at 2 a.m., and the next, you’re watching them walk into school, realizing they don’t need to hold your hand anymore. I find myself missing those little details, their heaviness cuddled on my chest, the sensation of their little hands clasped around my finger, the soft noises of newborn sleep.
That's one reason why I love what I do. As a Long Island newborn photographer, I get to freeze these moments in time, save the little details that will one day be a memory far, far away. Those tender wrinkles on their feet, the sleepy yawns, the way they roll up so neatly in your arms—it all matters. And years from now, when the baby stage feels like a lifetime ago, these images will transport you right back.
So if you're in the middle of newborn days—exhausted, stressed, and completely in love—soak it up. Take the photos, hold them a little longer, and know that these days, as exhausting as they are, are magic. And if you ever need a little help slowing down time, I'll be here, camera in hand.
